How is Goodpasture's Syndrome Diagnosed?

 

In addition to a complete medical history and physical examination your doctor will usually discover that you have high blood pressure (which may reveal signs of Goodpasture's Syndrome). Diagnostic procedures for Goodpasture's Syndrome may include the following:

  • Urinalysis - which will show if there is blood and protein in the urine
  • Chest X-rays - which will show abnormalities
  • Lung Biopsy - which may reveal damaged alveoli 
  • Kidney Biopsy - which may reveal damaged glomeruli
  • Arterial blood gas analysis - which may show low oxygen in the blood
  • Check if Anti-GBM antibody and creatinine levels are elevated
