Vacuum constriction devices

Vacuum devices use external changes in pressure to cause an erection. The lubricated penis is placed in a cylinder, then air is pumped out using a hand-held vacuum pump. A vacuum is created, and it becomes easier for the penis to become erect. A constriction band is placed at the base of the penis to prevent the erectile tissue from emptying too soon.

This type of device can be a reliable way to get an erection. It is important to use the device only as directed, and to use only a prescription device from a known and ethical manufacturer. Side effects may include pain, bruising, or difficulty ejaculating.
