How the PDE-5 drugs are used

Viagra® is taken about 1 hour before sex. It should not be taken after a heavy, fatty meal, and works fastest if taken on an empty stomach. It should not be taken more than once a day.

Levitra® is also taken about 1 hour before sex and should not be taken more than once per day. It is less likely to be affected if taken on a full stomach, allowing more flexibility with meals. However, it should not be taken after a heavy, fatty meal.

Cialis® may be taken about 2 hours before sex, allowing for a little more flexibility with timing and is not affected if taken after a meal. It should not be taken more than once a day. However, a physician may advise taking it less frequently. Cialis can remain in the body for more than 2 days, especially in men with kidney or liver problems.

If you are prescribed any of these drugs, be sure to take them according to your physician’s instructions. Your physician will consider what dose instructions are best for you given your individual situation.
